SOLARPRO Geyser Heating

Our diagram below shows how the sun's energy can be harnessed to heat the water in a geyser. This saves electricity and leads to a significant reduction in energy costs.

Image showing geyser heating
  • Cold water enters the geyser and descends into the panel.
  • Water heated by the sun rises by convection to the top, in the collecting tank and the solar panel.
  • Water then rises in the panel and feeds into the geyser.
  • Usually, solar geysers have an element to boost the temperature, once or twice a day.
  • A timer can be used to switch on the element at specific times, and a solar pump may be added to regulate the water flow, thereby increasing efficiency.

If you have a normal, high-pressure geyser, we can make changes to the water movement in your hot-water system, so that water will be heated by the sun before it enters the geyser.

Photo-voltaic electric cells and a solar pump are used in this operation, which is called retrofitting a geyser.

Your solar geyser can be installed internally, or externally. If your home has a flat roof, we use galvanized stands to mount panels at the correct angle.

Everyone benefits, when you switch to solar power. Your family, your wallet, and the planet!

Geyser Water Heating Panels

Our panels are made from SABS-approved materials. They are extremely durable and long-lasting, and carry a 10-year guarantee.

  • Outer casings are made from corrosion-resistant aluminum.
  • Kulite, with a 20 millimetre layer of white laquer, is used for insulation.
  • Glazing is done with toughened armoured glass.
  • The alluminium base is coated with a specialized chemical solution, to achieve a superior black matt finish.
  • The collector is made of SABS-approved copper piping.
